“While studying in London, I visited multiple cupcake shops from Lola’s to Hummingbird to Harrods and I wanted to bring something like that to Mumbai. The store is a physical extension of Essange’s persona. We have added a ‘Build Your Own Cupcake’ station that lets you customise the cupcake according to your taste - everything from the sponge, to the frosting, filling and topping can be added just the way you like it,” shared Shreya Gupta, Founder and Pastry Chef, Essange.
The name Essange is derived from Shreya’s initials “SNG”, a part of herself being incorporated into the brand. While Shreya has the creative end of Essange figured, her sister, Kritika Gupta Patel joined hands to lend her business expertise, tying two ends, creativity and business respectively.
Essange’s first store in Mumbai is an extension of its persona into a physical presence. The doors open into Royal White walls with a splash of pastel colours, the colours of the brand keeping it minimal yet playful. To make customisation quick and fun, the store has a ‘Build Your Own Cupcake’ station that offers options to select the cupcake base, filling, frosting and topping of your choice. The 280 sq ft. area store is elegant, soothing and charming just like the products within.
Along with the physical store, the brand also allows customisation orders through its website for deliveries in Mumbai.
