McDonald's Opens largest Outlet in Guwahati in the region; to hire 5,000 people by 2025

QSR chain McDonald's India (North and East)'s has announced that it is planning to hire over 5,000 employees in North and East India in next three years.

McDonald’s is aiming at opening 300 stores in the area over the next three years.

As part of its expansion strategy, it opened its largest restaurant in India on Monday in Guwahati. The 6,700 sq ft restaurant has a capacity to feed 220 people at a time.

For greater convenience, McDonald’s is equipped with self-ordering digital kiosks and offering table service. Customers can place their order using the digital kiosks that are staffed with guest experience leaders to assist in the ordering process, and skip the front counter entirely, with their food brought right to their table.

“We are excited to launch our first restaurant in Northeast India. Guwahati, being the gateway to Northeast India, is a strategic location for us paving way for future expansion possibilities. Our presence here is a step towards making the world-class McDonald's experience accessible to people of Guwahati and part of our expansion plans in the Northeast region,” shared Rajeev Ranjan, Managing Director, McDonald’s India – North and East.

According to Ranjan, the business already runs 156 restaurants in north and east India, and it plans to increase that number of locations in the next three years.

"Currently, we are employing more than 5,000 people. We will continue to hire people as we grow. In three years, the workforce will double,” he added.

The new restaurant will employ people from local community, offering them a flexible and supportive working environment.

“We are committed to provide a best-in-class employee experience – where people are given opportunities to learn and develop at all levels.  The skills people learn while working with McDonald’s such as responsibility, teamwork, and responsiveness – to mention a few, can open the door to a brighter future”, said Rajeev.
