Starbucks, which entered India in 2012, has reported a success which was more than the company has expected.

The cafe chain has entered the country in a 50:50 joint venture with Tata Global Beverages by opening its first outlet in Mumbai.

The American coffee chain has completed two years of its operations in the country. The company on Tuesday said that its success in India has exceeded the expectations.

"In the last two years, we have been able to grow our brand. Success in India has exceeded our expectations. Our customers have really embraced us. They enjoy the unique beverages that we offer them," said, John Culver, Starbucks Coffee President (China and Asia Pacific).

"We are very happy with the progress we received in India and more importantly, with future prospects of the growth for us. We have taken a very long-term view on the opportunity that India presents and build our brand the right way”, he added further.

The company also mentioned that India is their fastest growing new market in the Starbucks history.

Presently, the coffee chain has 59 Starbucks outlets in six cities across the country.
