
World vegetarian day is celebrated every year on 1st October globally wherein it tries to create awareness about the consumption of vegetarian food.
Several studies suggest that following a vegetarian diet can help reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, bad cholesterol and certain cancers.
Also, with covid-19 pandemic we have seen that more and more people are adopting vegetarianism. According to a global study by SEMrush, searches for keywords like “vegan delivery”, “vegetarian delivery”, “order vegan food”, and “order vegetarian food” increased by 128%, 233%, 51%, and 27% respectively from January to May 2020.

The study also suggests that while India remains the undisputed motherland of vegetarians, globally, vegetarian food is growing increasingly popular as well.
The study indicates that there are a significant number of people globally committed to vegetarianism. As many parts of the world have been in lockdown, an increasing number of vegetarians around the globe have been ordering vegetarian food from outside. The study suggests that searches for vegan/vegetarian deliveries have slightly decreased" in India.
Restaurants are also celebrating this day by offering vegetarian menu options to their customers. QSR chain Jumboking that specialises in the widest range of vegetarian burgers has announced a 30% off on its range of burgers through delivery partners Swiggy and Zomato to mark the occasion.
The offer will be on till 10th November, the last day of the IPL.

Globally, we have seen many QSR chains are incorporating vegetarian options in their menu. Brands like KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King to name a few have launched vegan burgers and vegetarian favourites to cater to the vegetarian customers that is growing day by day.
