Restaurant timing to get extended in Mumbai, Pune restaurant body requests for the same relaxations

As we have seen that the number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra has come to a halt and there is no increase in the cases for over a month now, the state government on Thursday approved easing of curbs in 25 of 36 districts, including extension for restaurants operational hours, dining out on weekends amongst others.

However, there will be no change in restrictions for Sunday.

Thane, Nashik, Nagpur apart from Mumbai will be some districts where government has decided to ease the restrictions. However, Pune which is 2nd largest city when it comes to restaurant and food business is still not included in the list and the restrictions remains the same in the city.

“We are also planning to send a mail to the CM asking him to please allow the same relaxation for restaurants in Pune too because we are also following all precautionary and safety measures as per guidelines by Govt,” shared Ganesh Shetty, President, PRHA by adding that we can’t be closed for too long as we are already facing financial loss, staff payments , installments are all based on it.

As per reports, positivity rate in Pune has gone below 4 per cent.

“Our main business is in the evening. Dining hours in the restaurants should be extended in the evening,” added Shetty by pointing that the sector has already seen too any closures.

The decision was taken in a meeting with the Covid task force chaired by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on 29th July and a formal order providing details of relaxations is expected in a day or two, added the officials.

As per health minister Rajesh Tope dining-in at restaurants and bar will now be allowed for longer hours i.e 8 PM at 50% capacity.  The panel has also suggested opening of non-essential shops as well as restaurants till 4pm on Saturday. Sunday restrictions will continue.
