After successfully running the much accepted concept of Social, Restaurateur Riyaaz Amlani has once again sensed the growing appetite for the world cuisine in India by introducing Slink & Bardot a French restaurant with a Persian touch in Mumbai.

Tucked away, off Worli sea-face, down a sleepy fishing village road, the restaurant is a charming, quaint place by Canadian restaurateur Nick Harrison who is one of the partners for this newly opened restaurant. “As a fifteen year old fishmonger, selling lobsters at a local market in Ottawa, I could never have dreamt that I’d be kicking off a restaurant on the salty shores of Mumbai. A sense of curiosity and wanderlust pushed me out of my cocoon in suburban Canada and out into a world of food,” shares Harrison who has worked with a bustling French Brasserie in London’s West End.

“I remember being completely terrified going in for my first shift there. But before I knew it, the place had become home. The customers would come back, each time filling me with the thrill of providing them with another great experience. Naturally, the staff, (many of whom, including myself) were on a quest far away from home, became family," adds Harrison.

Focusing on the French part, the menu is curated by Chef Alexis Gielbaum, who has spent the better part of his decade long tenure in the kitchen, fine-tuning his idea of crafting each dish within a structural framework and tapping into his vast repertoire of work and life experiences for nuance.

At Slink & Bardot, Chef Alexis serves up, French small plates exclusively, that are part rustic, part picnic, part classic and part contemporary. “I have deliberately avoided the temptation to go with the classic clichés one normally associates with French food. My cuisine isn’t as much French, as it is modern day Parisienne,” adds Chef Alexis who while growing up in Paris was blessed to have learnt many different styles of French cuisine, each with its own unique perspective. “From huge brasseries to quaint bistros and from 5-star hotels to my grandma's cabin surrounded by vineyards in Loire - naturally, I feel my philosophy on food draws upon each of these personal experiences. I've never felt that any style was superior to another, only that, they each play an integral role in the mosaic - that is French cuisine,” he further adds.

The restaurant is trying to recreate that environment which makes its customers fall in love with the place. According to restaurateurs Slink & Bardot has the potential to create memories for people each time they walk through the door.

The restaurant is 120 cover which is divided into a lounge and a restaurant serving around 48 varieties of wines, right from France, Germany and Chile to homegrown varieties from the Nashik valley.

So come over, spend an evening with conversations, cocktails and jazz - all from the comfort of an epicurean treat for the senses.
