"Highway restaurants are very popular and doing extremely good "

What’s the history of Savera group in Chennai?

Savera brand was started in 1968 by three brothers- Shyam Sunder Reddy, A Ventakeshwar Reddy and Ram Reddy. We are soon to celebrate the Golden jubilee. We have about 40 restaurants in Chennai and Bengaluru. We are now looking to expand pan India. We have brand like Amravati which is 30+ years old and Malgudi which is 15-17 years old. That’s why we thought we will go franchising for this brands. We have our five restaurants ready for it- Amaravathi, Dakshinapuram. Amaravathi highway, The Brew Room and Malgudi.

What are the different varieties of food you are serving?

Amaravathi serves authentic Andhra food, Dakshinapuram serves best of vegetarian dishes of the five southern states- Kerala, Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana. Malgudi has got foods from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka which is vegetarian and non- vegetarian. Whereas Amaravathi Highway is very popular because we have one prototype in highway near Gudur in Andhra Pradesh doing extremely well. And, as Delhi has lots of highway it will be better for the market. And, this restaurant not only serves Andhra cuisine but also food from Indian Tandoor and Chinese. It is a multi-cuisine restaurant. Likewise, Brew Room is a very famous brand in south with a garden café. It has crafted coffee and crafted food.

What is your plan expanding via franchisee?

We thought of having one unit of each restaurant in Delhi and subsequently after seeing the growth we will franchise in different parts of the country preferably one unit each in west and east.

How many outlets you are running presently?

Malgudi is a COCO model and we are running two outlets, we are also operating two Amaravathi and one Amaravathi highway restaurant. Dakshinapuram is two and the Brew Room has three outlets in Chennai. We also have other restaurants which are serving different cuisine.

What is the journey of highway restaurants?

Highway restaurants are very popular and doing extremely good when compared to a high street. We ourselves were amazed to see the response. The highway restaurants open early morning and serves four sessions- breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Generally, people who take franchise have their own land.

Do you see any competition for your restaurants?

We do not see any competition in Delhi because there is not a single restaurant serving five states food on one platter.

What is the expansion plan going forward?

We want to have about 20 of each brand pan India.
